Ouch! Justin Bieber and his friends should’ve known better than to swim out in the ocean during shark week! The singer and his pal, Joe Termini, weren’t so lucky when they decided to dive alongside ‘harmless’ reef sharks in Bora Bora on July 6.
Apparently shark week isn’t just a thing that happens on TV anymore. Justin Bieber, 21, and his friend Joe Termini, decided to take a little swim in the warm Bora Bora waters on July 6 before they had a gruesome encounter with some supposedly harmless reef sharks. The two friends found out the hard way that the sharks in question were not so harmless after all, and one of them left with a shark bite. Eek!
After finishing up his week-long Hillsong Church retreat and leaving Australia, Justin and his pals decided to head for Bora Bora for a little getaway. Unfortunately, the mini vacation turned out to be a not-so-fun one when Justin’s friend got bit by a reef shark in the ocean. “Exactly why i hate sharks they told us reef sharks don’t bite @joetermini,” Justin captioned alongside his friend’s horrific wound. That photo is enough to make people think twice about setting foot into the ocean! [WATCH VIDEO HERE]
Joe’s battle wound is just the latest in weird string of shark attacks. Across the coast of North and South Carolina, swimmers have been attacked by sharks in shallow waters. In North Carolina, a 16-year-old and 12-year-old both lost limbs after they were viciously attacked by sharks in June 2015. More recently, a male swimmer was recently named the eighth victim after being bitten by a shark in Surf City, North Carolina. There has been no explanation for all of the recent shark attacks.
Joe’s scary incident with a reef shark comes a few days after Justin claims to have seen a shark while swimming in the Australian waters. The 21-year-old told his fans at a quick Q&A session about his terrifying situation. “I was really cold and I’m pretty sure I saw a fin,” he said to fans. “And that was not cool!” Seeing sharks in the open waters are never cool — you never know what can happen out there!
